Green Lafayette
The City is committed to developing and implementing environmental policies and programs that will enable the City and its residents to meet their present needs without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The City's Environmental Task Force meets monthly to develop and implement policies and programs for the Environmental Action Plan.
The City also works closely with Sustainable Lafayette, a non-profit corporation whose mission is to provide the community of Lafayette, California with the information, inspiration, tools, and assistance that facilitate the adoption of sustainable practices. The annual Lafayette Awards of Environmental Excellence, more commonly known as the Lafayette Green Awards, recognize outstanding efforts that contribute to a more sustainable community and help the City achieve its environmental goals. Winners are announced at the Joint Meeting of City Council and Environmental Task Force in April.
Multiple organizations offer financial incentives for completing home improvements that result in energy efficiency and conservation upgrades. For information on available programs, please visit the Government Funding Programs page.
Lafayette a full member and participant in the Cities for Climate Action Campaign. As a participant, the City pledged to take a leadership role in promoting public awareness about the causes and impacts of climate change.
