Background:
The City of Lafayette is working in partnership the school districts, parents organizations and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) on a traffic safety campaign to both educate pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers regarding traffic safety and to encourage more walking and biking throughout the community.
In October 2021, Lafayette School District Rapport Chair, Katy Foreman, along with Street Smarts Diablo/511 Contra Costa Project Manager, Kirsten Riker, presented the Street Smarts Pledge to Walk, Bike and Drive Safely. The pledge is an initial component of a traffic safety campaign, which will be expanded upon in 2022.
