Code Enforcement enforces the Lafayette Municipal Code, particularly as it relates to land use and property maintenance. The City of Lafayette utilizes Contra Costa County Code Enforcement for issues related to building code violations, grading, unpermitted construction, remodels, and housing condition violations. The City of Lafayette currently has one part time code enforcement officer working two days per week. Lafayette prioritizes issues that are related to health and safety with all other reported violations being addressed as staffing allows. Issues regarding land use (zoning), exterior housing conditions, abandoned vehicles, sidewalk trip hazards, overgrown vegetation obstructing intersections or sign visibility, illegal signs, graffiti, fences, tree protection, noise control and neighborhood blight can be reported to the City of Lafayette at the following Code Enforcement Request Form.
