Application Forms

Many development projects within Lafayette require discretionary review. To determine if your project requires discretionary review, click here. If your project triggers discretionary review, such as a Hillside Development Permit, Design Review, Variance, etc., you will need to submit an application.

Example Submittals

The Planning & Building Department staff compiled good examples of different submittals required for Planning applications. While no example is perfect, each was identified by staff as being generally easy to understand and conveying the information for which the submittal is intended. You do not need to copy any one example; however, your exhibits should show all pertinent information in a clear, accurate, and easily understood form.  For example submittals, please click here.

Fees

The Planning & Building Department collects two types of fees - application processing fees and development impact fees.  Application fees accompany discretionary applications and cover staff time for processing the application.  Development impact fees are required prior to issuance of permits.  The City accepts cash, checks, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card only), made payable to the "City of Lafayette."

Please note that other agencies, such as the Contra Costa County Building Inspection Department, have separate fee schedules.  Please contact the other agencies directly to determine what fees may apply to your project.  For a list of other agencies, please click here.
