Call for Artists: City of Lafayette Public Art Committee
The City of Lafayette Public Art Committee invites artists living or working in the Bay Area to submit proposals for exhibitions in our downtown galleries. Our spaces, including the library's Community Hall Gallery and Homework Center, the Town Hall Theatre Lobby Gallery, the Young Artist Virtual Gallery, and the Public Art Display Case, are dedicated to showcasing rich and diverse artistic expressions.

Exhibition Spaces:
Library Galleries: Community Hall Gallery and Homework Center
Town Hall Theatre Lobby Gallery
Purpose: These spaces aim to foster a vibrant arts community and promote visual arts appreciation within Lafayette.
Exhibition Details:
Schedule: Exhibitions are held in the fall, winter, spring and summer at each venue for approximately six weeks during the following time frames:
Fall Exhibits: September - December
Winter Exhibits: December - March
Spring Exhibits: March - May
Summer Exhibits: June - September
Eligibility: Artists living or working in the Bay Area are eligible to apply. Priority consideration is given to those in Contra Costa County.
Cost: There is no fee to apply for review or to exhibit.
Expectations: Artists are expected to assist in the installation and de-installation of the exhibition and are asked to attend and promote an opening or closing reception hosted by the Public Art Committee.
Application Deadline:
Opportunities for winter exhibitions are available for the the Community Hall Gallery and the Display Case at the library. The deadline for application submission is November 22, 2024.
Selection Process:
Exhibits will be selected by the City of Lafayette Public Art Committee through a thorough review process.

The application packet should be accompanied by images of your work and an exhibition statement and artist bio.
Images: Email images as JPG files and please ensure that each file is labeled with the corresponding number from your application, your name, and the title of the work.
Exhibition Statement: The exhibition statement should explain the concept behind the collection of work you’ve proposed for the exhibit. You might consider addressing your process, the inspiration behind the work, why you chose to create these particular pieces, and how you see them working together as a cohesive exhibit.
Artist Biography: Your artist biography should provide an overview of your artistic background. This might include your chosen medium, how you became involved in it, your educational background, and any exhibition experience you may have. The bio can be written in either first or third person, and the length is entirely up to you.

Call for Poets
Local poets are invited to submit work for consideration for our April Poetry for the Ages!
Poetry for the Ages is a one-hour program, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, featuring four poets, each reading their work for about 7 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. The audience is warm, appreciative, and very engaged, making it a wonderful opportunity for poets to share their work in an intimate setting.
