Commissions & Committees
The City has a number of commissions, committees and task forces that advise the City Council. Each commission/committee is charged with reviewing issues and making decisions within the scope of its authority. A decision made by a commission/committee is subject to review by, or appeal to the City Council.
Commission, committee and task force members receive no monetary compensation for holding their position.

Attendance and Resignation
Regular attendance at commission and committee meetings is essential in order to accomplish the goals set by each body.
If an appointee resigns from office before the end of the term, the member of the commission or committee shall submit a letter of resignation addressed to the Lafayette City Council.
Selection Process for Members
Applications for commission or committee openings must be submitted to the Lafayette City Clerk. Applications can indicate interest for more than one commission or committee. Applications remain active for two years. If any vacancies occur within this period, people with active applications will be contacted along with new applicants to fill those slots.
Term of Office
All commission/committee members shall serve two-year terms expiring on June 30th. It is the policy of the City Council to automatically reappoint a commission/committee member upon request. However, commission/committee members completing their third consecutive partial or full term shall re-apply and re-interview for their position in the same manner as a new commission/committee member.
