Hike through oak and bay laurel woods for 1.6 miles, cross Pinehurst Road and San Leandro Creek, before headinguphill through shady redwoods and ferns to the East Ridge Trail in Redwood Park. The group will hike along the ridge for a couple of miles, enjoying great views of the Bay Area, before returning on the same route to the staging area. Bring hiking poles if you use them; strenuous, hilly 6-7 miles.
Meet in the parking lot out from Lafayette BART's main entrance at 8:30 a.m. to form carpools to the trailhead. Bring lunch or snacks, water, layered clothing, good walking shoes, sun protection and money to contribute toward gas, bridge tolls and parking ($3 local).
