Lafayette's 8th Annual Earth Day Festival

Sustainable Lafayette, the Lafayette Chamber, Lafayette Library, and City of Lafayette invite you to come downtown to celebrate Earth Day and the community's continued progress toward sustainability. The festival will include:

  • Water Conservation & Education Zone: The patio area of the library will feature EBMUD, a watershed model, landscape experts, greywater demos, and other info about water conservation.
  • Great Food: Susan Foord will be offering her "Thrill on the Grill" for lunch!
  • Live Music: Featuring Acoustic S&M, Contra Costa Children's Choir, Audacity (a cappella), and Dominant 7.
  • For Kids: Self-Propelled Parade - Bounce house - Interactive activities by Lawrence Hall of Science, Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and Global Student Embassy - Scavenger Hunt with prize for completed "passport" - Girl scout displays - Bee display.
  • Hydration Station: Bring your reusable water bottle and fill up with ice cold water or purchase a special co-branded Kleen Kanteen with sport top for $20. 
  • Free Clothes Recycling: Bring your stained, torn, or old clothing and receive 15% off your next purchase at H&M. Your clothes will be recycled into new products. No shoes please.
  • Golden Gate Way: Check out environmental businesses, non-profit organizations, vendors and educational displays.
  • Veggie Starters for Sale: The Lafayette Community Garden will be selling organic plant starts to help get your veggie garden off to a fast start.
  • Lafayette Green Awards: Winners in five different categories announced at noon.


Happening at Stanley Middle School:

  • Bike Tuning: Helmet, seat, tire adjustment by Sharp Bicycles at Stanley from 10:30-11am.
  • Self-Propelled Parade: Join the popular self-propelled parade that leaves from Stanley Middle School at 11am.

Getting to the Event & Parking:GoLafayette: Use GoLafayette.org to see interesting statistics about your options for getting to Stanley or the Library.
  • Free Bike Parking: Loads of free bike parking at the corner of First Street and Golden Gate Way.
  • Parking at Stanley: Loads of car parking at Stanley and on School Street. Then walk/bike down First Street.
